Celestial Dreams Navy and Gold Wedding Theme - Live Illustration at Sedgewell Barn, North Yorkshire

Last week I had the exciting opportunity to join a team of talented suppliers on a styled wedding shoot, to showcase my live wedding illustration at Sedgewell Barn, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire. The shoot was organised by Yorkshire Brides - the ultimate Yorkshire wedding directory, dedicated to showcasing venues, suppliers and inspiration available in our wonderful county of Yorkshire!

The theme was 'Celestial Dreams' - a stunning, star-filled theme rich in dark velvet navy tones with accents of gold.

It was a glorious sunny day as I arrived at Sedgewell Barn, a rustic wedding venue surrounded by beautiful countryside, close to the town of Northallerton. I set up my table and paints and got to work live illustrating the other suppliers as the wedding 'guests', including (of course!) the happy couple and bridesmaid models.

Before the day arrived I had designed my first darker toned backing cards, choosing a rich navy blue colour and hand-painting the happy couple's names and wedding date onto each card. Normally I print these details in black ink, but styled shoots are a great opportunity to test new ideas and the hand-painted gold lettering worked so well!

I also brought along some place card samples - I've had the idea of creating luxury place cards in my head for so long, and I was delighted with how they turned out! These were again created with the same navy card stock with the wedding guest names painted by hand in gold. Each place card featured a hand drawn and watercolour painted head and shoulders illustration of the guest. Imagine what a great talking point these would be as your guests find their seats.

The day was brilliant - not only a fabulous opportunity to see the fantastic venue of Sedgewell Barn dressed for a wedding, but also to meet and see first-hand the work of such a diverse and talented range of local Yorkshire suppliers.

As a live wedding illustrator, it was such a great opportunity for me to demonstrate what I do, and to be able to gift some of the other wedding suppliers some fun little keepsakes from the day!
